Description
**1985 Land Rover 90 (pre-Defender) on genuine original chassis (GALVANISED) with a later 300TDi engine swap - TAX AND MOT EXEMPT**
This car has been in regular use for the last 5 years so not a barn or shed queen. Mechanically solid but could do with some TLC. Has had an annual oil change since I got it. The chassis is galvanised, the bulkhead has some bubbling but still fairly solid. It runs and drives as well as expected for a 40-year old Land Rover - don't expect any massive comfort or smooth performance. It's bumpy, rattles, and is LOUD.
A lot of work has gone into it in the last 5 years with a lot of new/upgraded parts fitted, including but not limited to:
- High performance Turner engineering head & new head gasket
- New Turbo
- New Alternator & auxiliary belt
- New exhaust
- New rear drive shaft
- New Radiator
- Improved headlight loom
- Genuine TD5 XS heated seats
- Aftermarket head unit w/ Android Auto
- New speakers that can almost be heard over the engine
- Wolf wheels w/ a steel spare
The car should have many years left in it, but ideally is suited as a long-term project for someone to refurbish - it's a road-going Land Rover, not a factory showpiece. It has its niggles that will need sorting, including:
- seals and window latches need replacing
- body work and paint are rough - see photos
- intermittent squeak from one of the idler wheels after a cold start (common on this era of 300TDi)
- water leaks into the interior (what Land Rover doesn't have this)
Historical Tax and MOT exemptions already recorded on the V5c. Reluctantly selling to free up space for other projects. Open to reasonable offers.
