BMW Z3 P849PLP
Bought as a weekend good weather car 12 years ago in 2014, this car has been absolutely wonderful. As a Z Roadster owners club member, I have loved this car. Apart from regular routine servicing, it has never failed to start and has required no major parts replacements. I had the starter motor replaced, as it was a touch slow, but remains with me as a spare. In 2026 I had the fan belt replaced along with the associated pulley parts because it was a bit squeaky! This was at a cost of over 300. A new set of Avon tyres were fitted at the end of 2025 as the previous set had passed there sell by date. A new battery during 2026 as well. All Z 3's have seat bush failures at some time, even the M series bread vans. Most owners put up with the movement forward and back, but not me. I paid to have the electric seats removed and the faulty bushes replaced.
The Mot was renewed on the 8th 0f March 2026. The tester gave it no advisories and said no rust was seen and it's better underneath than most new cars. The car has always kept in my heated garage.
My intention all along with this car has been to keep it as genuine and original as possible. I have the original build sheet which has some unique special order items, as far as I am aware. The alloy wheels and the M Sport door mirrors appear to be unique to my car. 1997 was when the car was new so maybe special items were available only for a short time. I have never seen the same again and was told the mirrors could be worth 500 alone. It comes with M Sport steering wheel and gear lever knob and full Dakota black leather upholstery. It has a wind deflector and the original tonneau cover for the hood. The hood is the original and has no tears. Whilst it shows some sign of wear, it does not leak and as I have never taken the car out when rain was expected, it's never been an issue. A couple of paintwork marks showing use, does in my eyes not constitute ruining it's genuine original status and therefore as far as I know, no panels have been repainted. The overall finish is excellent and very shiny. As can be seen on the Mot history, the vehicle has been driven less and less in recent years. With increasing age and a desire by my wife to take our small dogs with us, alternative cars seem to get used. Therefore, it is with regret that I put it up for sale. It doesn't have to go so no silly offers please. Most of the rotten Z3's have now been scrapped so this one surely could start to increase in value.
