I have no idea why the car was deemed a write-off but it needed a new windscreen and suspension repairs when I bought the car; I can't see any evidence of accident repairs. Please note - the brake pad wear light is illuminated but the front pads are perfectly fine; included with the sale are new front pads I bought. Apparently this is a common issue for VAG cars.
