Description

2006 Volkswagen Golf GTI Mk5 2.0 TFSI - 113k miles - lots of major maintenance done. MOT valid until December 2026. It's been well looked after and has had a lot of the common/important Mk5 GTI maintenance already taken care of. It drives well, pulls strongly and has had money spent where these cars usually need it. This car has no modifications, it is a totally stock example. I haven't driven this car much in my ownership, only a couple thousand miles. I like it a lot, but I have too many projects/vehicles at the moment, and my commute to work is 55 miles return, so this isn't really economical enough as a daily driver for me. Recent/major work includes: Cambelt replaced, including pulleys and tensioner Water pump replaced Cam chain and tensioner replaced (yes, this engine has both) High Pressure Fuel Pump Cam follower replaced Oil and filter service Air filter Cabin air filter New spark plugs New coil packs New fuel filter Auxiliary belt replaced (including auxiliary belt tensioner) Coolant flush Brake fluid flush Gearbox oil change PCV valve replaced N80 purge valve replaced Refurbished ABS module just fitted (the previous one had the common traction-control fault) Replacement headliner (sag is a very common issue on these cars) Anti-roll bar drop links replaced (as per advisory on last MOT) Wheel screws replaced, hubs chased through with a tap For more information on this work, see image with spreadsheet. Overall it's a solid, usable Mk5 GTI with the right maintenance done rather than one that has just been polished up for sale. These are getting harder to find with proper history and the expensive/common jobs already sorted. Bodywork/interior are in good used condition for the age, with the usual age-related marks you'd expect from a 2006 car. Mechanically it's had a lot of preventative work and should make a good daily, weekend car or base for someone wanting a tidy Mk5 GTI. The car has two sets of wheels, the set currently on the car have decent tyres on, the spare set was the set on the last MOT (1 new tyre now, 3 with advisories. Both sets are 225/40R18 and use the same 40mm long screws.
