Description
I have owned this Boxster S for around one and a half years; it is a superb example, with some excellent upgrades and lots of recent mechanical work carried out.
Why it's a bit more expensive:
52771 genuine miles with FSH (miles not every year) and low owners for a Boxster.
It has a hard top included in the sale
GT3 alloy wheels in immaculate condition
Dansk super sound sports exhaust fitted at great expense (invoice in photos)
Recent mechanical work to ensure it's driving at its very best
The car is in lovely condition throughout with the odd mark and blemish commensurate with age. The carpets and original mats are exceptionally clean and fresh. The pedals and steering wheel are exceptional and look unused. The bodywork has the odd mark here and there but no corrosion anywhere. The roof is great and in full working order.
When I purchased the car, I had it inspected by a well-regarded Porsche specialist who created the list attached in the photos. I have had most of the list done. In the last 7000 miles its had:
Front and rear discs and pads
Offside and nearside CV boots replaced
Front lower arms
OSR wheel bearing
Wiper blades
All this means it is driving very well indeed; there are no noises over the bumps, it stops just as it should, and the handling is exceptional.
The sports exhaust is a brilliant upgrade; it's quiet at low speeds and sounds amazing when pushing on. Having driven other 986s I believe it adds significant power, but that could also be down to the low mileage.
The GT3 alloys were recently refurbished at great cost and suit the car very well.
It's 26 years old so there are going to be some bad bits; the aircon doesn't work (it never bothered me as I just put the roof down, so it's not been investigated; could just be a regas). There is only one key and the blipper stopped working; not expensive to sort out. There is some corrosion on the hard top.
When I had the car inspected, the specialist commented that they rarely see one that doesn't need a lot of money spending on it. This one didn't need a lot spent on it and has had the big jobs it did need done. In short, you could go and buy one a lot cheaper than this but end up spending a lot more on getting it to be a serviceable car.
