Description

Very reluctantly selling my UK delivered 1996 Toyota MR2 GTi-16 as I don't have opportunity to use it enough anymore and need to free up driveway space. I'm a long time MR2 enthusiast, having owned 6 mk2s in total over 20 years, and this is the one I've owned the longest. The car drives and feels just as a mk2 MR2 should and I'm trying to sell the car as transparently and honestly as possible. Enhancements: 17" BBS LM staggered 8J/9J gold alloy wheels "reverse mounted" Mongoose Exhaust with slash cut tips Dual cone induction kit Eibach springs OMP Racing GP steering wheel on Momo boss Crystal headlights with Osram nightbreaker bulbs Crystal front indicators and side repeaters Geek of the Road centre console double cupholder Geek of the Road modular ashtray single cupholder Oil pressure and temperature gauges with white/green illumination Pioneer SPH-DA160DAB stereo with Android Auto / Apple Carplay in custom 3D printed, angled mounting (to avoid reflection on screen) Refreshed subwoofers in OEM enclosures behind seats Cobra remote central locking Gas rams on engine bay and frunk The good bits: Recently completed rust repairs, including doors, passenger sill and replacement driver's sill, with fresh paint where required Recently serviced (oil & oil filter, air filter, spark plugs) New front brake pads, discs, and pistons plus refreshed brake fluid New lambda sensor New battery June '25 Clutch replaced at approx. 77,000miles Timing belt replaced at 53,822 miles Rear tyres 235/40/17 Falken FK510 both @ 5.7mm Front tyres 205/40/17 Continental Premium Contact 6 @ 6.6mm & Sport Contact 5 @ 4.1mm MOT until 20th February 2027 The bad bits: Never failed to start, but approx 1 in 3 cold starts crank for a few seconds before catching (been like that as long as I've owned it but never found the cause) The car is 30 years old so paintwork isn't perfect (some with small dings and discrepancies) Minor damage to TBar panel metal trims (dent on one, bent edge on the other) Dent on the exhaust back box Wear on driver's seat bolster (pretty normal on these cars) Engine bay heat insulation slightly tatty
