Description

*** FOR SPARES OR REPAIR *** PLEASE NOTE, THIS CAR WILL NEED TO BE COLLECTED OR TOWED. This car currently does not start or drive but has been a lovely drive for me in the 2 years owned. Bought 2nd hand, I found an issue with one of the fuel injector retaining bolts. This was originally solved but in the process of recently installing new injectors the repair has failed and I now cannot afford to repair. Externally and internally the car is in good condition with the main aesthetic issue being slightly cracking paint on the rear bumper assembly. Mechanically, it is sound apart from the injector retaining bolt issue which I will describe in detail below. --- THE ISSUE: I found one of the injector clamp retaining bolts had sheered off and the top of the bolt stripped the thread from the engine block. My garage drilled and tapped the hole, inserting a helicoil to enable use of correct gauge (though slightly shorter) bolt. This worked a treat until I needed to replace the injectors earlier this year. Unfortunately, the helicoil did not hold and (see photographs) the bolt has been ejected by the pressure. My garage are unwilling to undertake guaranteed work on it so I am forced to sell. The remedy options are: 1: drill out hole and tap to enable larger gauge bolt. 2: retry helicoil solution 3: replace engine block. There may be other solutions that I am unaware of. The injectors are all recently purchased from specialist injector reconditioning company Western Taurus Diesel at a total cost of over 600. They are in beautiful 'as new' condition and warrantied for 12 months. Injector #2 is warrantied to 18/12/2026. Injectors #1,2'4 warrantied to 18/3/2027. To get it back on the road, this is a job for someone who knows what they're doing but you'll have a lovely car if you do. Otherwise, the car is for spares and includes recent new suspension arm bushes and front springs. I'm looking to recoup the injector outlay, otherwise I will probably remove injectors to keep and sell the rest for scrap. Make me an offer!
