Description
MG TF LE500 Individually Numbered Limited Edition, 1 of Only 500 Made
First registered March 2010. In current ownership for six years, during which it has proved a completely reliable and low-cost car to run never stranded us, never sprung a nasty surprise.
The LE500 was MG's most thoroughly re-engineered TF: uprated N-Series 1.8L engine with multi-layered steel head gasket, strengthened oil rail, enhanced cooling and AP Racing 4-pot front brakes. 135PS driving the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual. The result is a beautifully balanced, genuinely engaging drive sharp steering, a keen engine, superb on a B-road.
Recent MOT history (March May 2026): The March MOT identified a number of worn service items (tyres, a wheel, track rod ends, rear shock, coil packs, bulbs). All were properly resolved. The car then sailed through its new MOT on 29 May 2026. The MOT garage manager himself a former TF owner described it as a sound, above-average example with no obvious major expense on the horizon.
Remaining advisories are genuinely minor: slight windscreen chip (unchanged for years), slight ball joint play in one front arm (advisory only, not urgent), some brake pipe surface corrosion (normal for a 16-year-old car), and rear box surface rust with no leak. Small bodywork blemishes consistent with age.
Belt change due around 70k miles something a new owner may wish to plan for.
A review of the current market reveals on Autotrader there are currently 4 LE500s listed, ranging from 5,000 to 10,995. The 5,000 example and a 5,800 example appear to be private/lower-spec; an 8,795 dealer car has 41,466 miles; and a 10,995 example also from a dealer. On CarGurus, a 2010 LE500 with 46,140 miles is listed at 6,999 (dealer, North Hykeham); a 2008 example with 41,466 miles is at 8,795 (dealer); and a 2008 with just 10,604 miles is at 10,995. Trovit aggregates LE500s starting from 8,295.
Lovely car. Reluctant sale.
