These cars are becoming increasingly difficult to find in unmodified, well-maintained condition, and this is a particularly honest example that has been enthusiast owned and carefully looked after throughout its life. Imported to the UK in 2016 as a Grade 4 vehicle, with auction photos available, the car has never failed an MOT and has never received a single advisory. It has been meticulously maintained regardless of cost and remains mechanically spot-on. The underside has been dry ice blasted and professionally protected, while cosmetically the car remains true to its factory appearance. As expected for a 25-year-old vehicle, there are a few minor stone chips and age-related marks, but overall it presents exceptionally well and attracts attention wherever it goes. Owned by a mature Subaru enthusiast, this being my second STI, the car has always been treated with mechanical sympathy. It has been carefully warmed up and cooled down on every drive and has never been driven hard unnecessarily. It has primarily been enjoyed on weekend drives and family trips to shows. The car produces approximately 300bhp and was professionally mapped by Duncan at Race Dynamix, with the dyno printout included in the sale. Sensible upgrades include an RCM intake, Walbro 225 fuel pump, 3-port boost solenoid and a Fujitsubo 3-inch exhaust, which offers an excellent soundtrack without being significantly louder than standard. Further enhancements include an STI Genome boost gauge, a refurbished MOMO steering wheel and a brand-new OEM STI 6-speed gear knob imported from Japan. The standard downpipe has been retained to keep the car road legal, although there is scope for further power increases should the next owner wish. In the last 500 miles the car has benefited from a full service, an RCM timing belt kit including pulleys and water pump, replacement rocker cover gaskets, new front discs and pads, four new Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tyres, and a Stage 2 competition clutch with lightened flywheel, along with new master and slave cylinders.
