Description
This car genuinely means a lot to me. I passed my test in 2007, the year the R8 launched, it became my dream car.
When the facelift V10 Plus came out, Audi released that famous advert with the R8 V10 Plus on the dyno, with no rear end or exhaust, and it completely lit a fire in me. From that moment, that exact car was the one I always wanted.
In 2023, I finally managed to buy it in the exact spec.
As it's the plus It has the carbon ceramic brakes, carbon fibre boomerang around the dash, centre tunnel inserts, door card handles, engine bay, blades, mirrors, splitter and diffuser, a non plus feels plain. It has factory body-coloured side blades which are unique and will come with the car boxed up, it's currently on the carbon blades. It has the best seats with the diamond stitch, buckets look good but not worth it for access, I had them in an RS4.
My life has recently changed, I have an 8-month-old baby, I'm getting married, and before the baby with work I barely had time to use it and when I did it was to commute on nice days, I love it, and it's a milestone for me but a shame and a complete waste of a special car.
The car has done just over 47,000 miles but it will creep up slightly on sunny days. In my ownership it's been looked after by Aberdeen Audi and has had an Audi extended warranty throughout.
The interesting part, I am fussy and have pushed the warranty for everything possible, to be clear the car has never let me down.
The warranty work includes:
- S-Tronic Gearbox replaced in 2024, it had a slight bearing noise under very light throttle at a certain speed, the warranty argued that a noisy bearing can develop over a long time and refused to cover it however I took it to the Ombudsman and won my case.
- Common problem oil pipes replaced during gearbox job.
-Front differential replaced 2024, when I got it back after the gearbox the front diff was very slightly noisy on overrun.
-Oil pump replaced 2026, Audi caused a water seep by damaging a seal not sold separate meaning the whole pump needed replaced as they don't sell the seal separate.
-Front radiator fans replaced 2026 due to noisy bearings.
The issues were minor, Audi replace equipment rather than the troublesome part resulting in over 48k pounds parts costs alone before labour over the last 2 years and an excellent car for the next owner. It has a Global Telemetrics tracker with immobiliser cards, along with a thinkware dashcam.
