Welcome to this advert for my much loved 2000 BMW E39 540i,
This is a very very reluctant sale of a car I intended on never selling,
When I brought the car I had all 4 jacking points repaired and welded with one being completely replaced, while the underside was stripped down I had the metal fuel lines replaced as a preventative measure. The underside is solid.
In March 2025 I sent the car to a local bmw specialist to have the suspension overhauled, pretty much everything on the front end was replaced with either genuine BMW parts or OEM equivalent, this included all steering arms, top mount bearings, shock absorbers and so on, the bill came to just shy of 3000.
The rear end got a refresh where required.
Also between this the front calipers were replaced along side brake discs and pads.
Late 2025 I also changed the rear brake discs and pads.
ive done 2 services in my ownership, it's due another on time as its been 12 months since the last, I will more than likely have had this done by the time the car sells.
In regards to history it's the main reason I brought this car, Its got excellent history stamped in the book and I believe the book is pretty much full, the car was supplied by BMW Oxford and I have a few documents from that dealership in the book pack.
The engine is sweet as anything, its never ever let me down and has never failed to start, about a year ago it had a new battery again genuine BMW. It starts first turn of the key and makes no funny or unwanted noises, I always wait for it to come off cold start before driving away and let it get to temp before getting into high revs. The gearbox is smooth and works exactly as it should.
I've just replaced the rocker cover gaskets with genuine BMW parts a few weeks ago as they had started weeping.
Last service the car had spark plugs and air filters replaced.
Interior is nice and tidy with minimal wear to the leather, it's a nice spec being black on black with the silver trim,
Its got a Bluetooth radio upgrade which looks close to the original, I should have the original radio if I can find it in the garage, everything works as it should even the power steering column and power seats.
Exterior wise the car is overall very clean, it turns heads wherever it goes. it does however have the classic bmw bubbling on arches, it's only small on the rear left arch where it meets the rear bumper.
The alloys are Genuine staggered M Parallels in factory finish.
