Description

Find a better early R107. I've owned this stunning 1972 Mercedes-Benz 350SL V8 for the last 12+ years, and during the past two years it has undergone a comprehensive, bare-metal, no-expense-spared restoration with over 50, 000 invested. Unlike many R107s on the market, the expensive work has already been done. The car has benefited from replacement wheel arches and floor pans, full re-chroming, extensive suspension refurbishment, a brand-new soft top, fresh carpets and a concours-quality respray in its original ivory colour. Even the hardtop has been fully restored to the same high standard. Mechanically, it has received extensive attention, including a refurbished rear differential, replacement fuel and brake lines, suspension bushes, ignition components, a new alternator, new battery, propshaft bearings and a full service. It starts instantly, drives beautifully and performs exactly as a Mercedes-Benz V8 should. Anyone familiar with R107s knows that the real cost isn't buying one - it's putting one right. Inner arches, outer arches, floors, paintwork and trim can quickly turn a seemingly cheaper car into a restoration project costing tens of thousands of pounds. This car has already had that journey. Importantly, the bulkhead remains in excellent original, rust-free condition. The result is one of the earliest and most desirable R107s available; a second-year production car presented in exceptional condition with a huge history file, restoration photographs and invoices documenting the work carried out. A comprehensive file of invoices, previous MOTs, restoration photographs and service records accompanies the car, documenting both its history and the significant investment made during my ownership. This isn't the cheapest R107 on the market, nor should it be. If you're looking for an early R107 that's already had the expensive restoration work completed properly, I doubt you'll find many that compare. You'll find cheaper R107s. You'll spend the difference putting them right. Tax exempt. ULEZ exempt. MOT exempt. Serious buyers contact me to arrange a viewing.
