Description
A tale as old as time - I'm selling my two-seat convertible sports car to make way for a bigger family car. I've owned this Z4 for the last two years, knowing there was only a small window in life to enjoy a car like this before children came along. With a baby on the way, it's time for someone else to enjoy it.
This is a rare and increasingly sought-after combination: BMW's excellent naturally aspirated 3.0-litre straight-six (N52) paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox. The E89 Z4 was the last generation to receive the naturally aspirated inline-six, and the only generation to have a folding hard top.
Finished in Black Sapphire with a black leather interior, this car has a fantastic specification and includes the desirable factory options:
19" alloy wheels
Heated leather seats
Cruise control
Automatic headlights
Automatic wipers
Rear parking sensors
Pop-up infotainment display
Ski hatch through to the boot
I spent months searching for the right car and specification, I genuinely think this is the best one.
Just as importantly, it has been maintained properly. During my ownership, I have proactively addressed the common N52 oil and coolant leak points, including:
Oil filter housing gasket
Valve cover gasket
Coolant flange ("Mickey Mouse" flange)
Additional maintenance includes:
Castrol oil changes every 10,000 miles
New ignition coil packs
New auxiliary belt
Gearbox oil change
Coolant refresh
Regular replacement of filters as required
The car has a fresh 12-month MOT and has been serviced (including oil), ready to go!
The mileage is currently around 130,000 miles. I purchased the car at 115,000 miles, and most of the mileage I've added has been motorway cruising between North Wales and Liverpool. The N52 is renowned for being a robust, long-lived engine, and the car has covered these miles effortlessly while still returning 40mpg.
A few additional highlights:
Driving modes: Normal, Sport and Sport+
Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres all round
Bluetooth music adapter
Adjustable seat side bolsters for excellent support
What I love most about this car is its versatility. With the roof up, it's refined, comfortable and easy to live with. With the roof down on a sunny day, especially on the roads through Snowdonia, it becomes a completely different experience. The straight-six soundtrack, manual gearbox and rear-wheel-drive chassis make every drive feel special.
Viewings are welcome. There's far more I could tell you about the car than I can fit into this advert.
