Description
1984 Ford Capri 2.8i
For sale is my 1984 Ford Capri 2.8i, a genuine 1980s fastback coupe that remains largely original and unmodified. While I'm not a classic car specialist, I've tried to gather as much information as possible from the history and paperwork that came with the car.
This Capri has been in our family around 30 years, coming into my ownership in 2025. The registered keeper changed from my mother to father in 2004 and remained with them until I inherited it.
The odometer currently shows 52,285 miles, although I cannot verify this mileage. The car is finished in blue with the distinctive red and white "Injection" side decals, and the interior features grey leather with black patterned cloth trim. It retains many of its original features, including Recaro front seats, a sunroof, quartz clock, wind-down windows, and a period stereo with equaliser.
The car comes with a substantial history file containing invoices, handwritten service records, and receipts, some dating back to the early 1990s. Additional leather material is included should a future owner wish to reupholster the rear seats. One key is supplied with the vehicle.
The wings and bumpers have been replaced at some point in its life, and the front seats have been reupholstered. There is also some wear to the trim around the sunroof handle, as shown in the photographs.
The most recent MOT was carried out on 14 May 2025 at 52,172 miles and passed first time with no advisories.
Recent maintenance recorded in the history includes:
* New battery and battery terminals fitted in 2023.
* Steering rack rebuilt by Kiley-Clinton Engineering in 2022.
* Engine oil and filter changed in 2021.
* Oil cooler seals replaced in 2021.
* New clutch kit fitted in 2021.
* Gearbox reconditioned by Universal Transmission Services in 2021, including new bearings, synchromesh components and seals.
* Middle and rear sections of the exhaust replaced in 2017.
* Radiator recored by Hereford Radiators.
Overall, this is a very presentable Capri with a long history, a largely original appearance, and evidence of ongoing maintenance throughout its life. It would make an enjoyable classic for weekend drives, local shows, or anyone looking to own one of Ford's most recognisable performance cars from the 1980s.
