Description

Reluctantly selling my much-loved Mazda MX-5 2.0 160ps due to not having the space for a third car anymore. I bought this car in 2024 with the plan to fully freshen it up and make it the perfect daily drop-top. I've brought it back to tip-top mechanical spec so it drives perfectly, with only the bodywork left to do to really make it visually perfect. It's priced to reflect the age-related scratches and marks on the body that you can see in the images. I'll list below the changes I've made and then what I think needs doing to make it perfect, if you'd like to continue the work, although you absolutely don't have to. It's ready to give you maximum smiles per mile as is. Changes/upgrades: Alloy wheels fully refurbished in brilliant silver New Michelin tyres all round New front brake calipers (only one needed replacing but I can't do jobs by half!) New thermostat (so it gets to temp and stays there like a new car) Fresh, high-spec battery Silver roll hoop covers Oh, and a new engine! The original engine was drinking oil so I sourced a much lower mileage one, now with just 60,000 miles, so the engine is now perfect. Starts on the key and runs sweetly. It never smokes and it runs efficiently, returning over 40 miles per gallon on a motorway cruise. Things you could do to make it perfect, although none of this necessary: Paintwork - there are scuffs and marks from previous owners that have clearly misjudged spaces in car parks. The car is straight and has never been in an accident, but it would benefit from a front and rear bumper respray if you wanted it spotless. Headlight polish - I've brought the misty headlights back to looking clear, but you could probably get more shine out of them. Just needs a bit of elbow grease. Soft top - it works perfectly but it could do with a bit of colour, as it's fading in places. You can buy soft top dye and apply it yourself in an hour's work. I never got around to doing it. The key thing is this is a car that's ready to rock and roll this summer, autumn and winter - and beyond. To emphasise that, I'll put a fresh MOT on it before the eventual buyer collects it (currently it's got an MOT until October). No offers on that price because it's priced to reflect the condition. Mechanically solid, a little rough around the edges, it's an absolute bargain for someone after a reliable convertible runabout, or someone looking to continue the project to fully restore it to perfect condition.
