Before committing to a new XC90, whether from a dealer or a private seller, it's worth taking a few minutes to read this. Our XC90 is not one of the many imported examples with supposedly ultra-low mileage that seem to dominate Autotrader and other sales sites. For some reason, a huge number of XC90s on the market have been imported from countries such as Japan, Singapore, and China, often showing remarkably low mileage figures. Maybe the mileage is genuine, maybe it isn't that's for you to decide. But it's certainly worth asking yourself why so many imported vehicles have such unusually low readings. Can the history be independently verified? Can you understand the service records if they're written in another language? And if parts of the car's documentation or controls are in a foreign language, how practical is that going to be for day-to-day ownership? Another thing to consider is insurance. Many insurers are reluctant to cover imported vehicles, and those that do often charge higher premiums. My personal opinion AVOID IMPORTED XC90's.
