Description

Priddys Motor Company are delighted to present this Porsche 911 3.6 997 Carrera Manual, showing 82,671 miles and finished in Arctic Silver Metallic. This car came to us from a genuine Porsche enthusiast who part exchanged it against one of our newer 991-generation 911s. He was part of the Porsche Owners Club, knew exactly what he had, and the sale was clearly not an easy one. It was not a case of somebody simply moving on from a car they no longer cared about; he was staying within the 911 world, just stepping into a newer example, and this 997 arrived with the sort of feel that only a properly cherished car tends to have. For the mileage, this is probably one of the nicest 997 Carreras we have come across. We have had lower-mileage examples, of course, but mileage alone rarely tells the whole story on a Porsche. This car feels like it has lived an easy, careful life. The brake condition, the tyre condition, the way it drives, the way it presents and the history behind it all point in the same direction. It has been loved, maintained and used by somebody who understood what these cars are. The 997 Carrera manual is a very important car now because it still gives you the mechanical feel modern sports cars struggle to replicate. The steering, the pedal feel, the weight of the manual gearbox and the sound of the flat-six behind you all feel connected in a way newer cars often smooth away. It is not about chasing huge numbers; it is about how the car communicates with you. That is where this generation still feels so special. This is the 3.6 Carrera rather than the Carrera S, and for many buyers that is a very appealing part of the car. It still has the naturally aspirated flat-six character, the manual gearbox and the proper 911 feel, but the 3.6 engine is generally considered the more reassuring choice when people discuss bore scoring compared with the larger 3.8 S engine. It is not something to treat as immune or maintenance-free, but paired with this car’s history, condition and recent care, it gives the example a very strong overall case. The specification is also far more interesting than a basic Carrera. The Porsche Sports Exhaust is a major feature, giving the car the right voice without making it feel modified or crude. The carbon interior package adds real theatre inside, with carbon used across the steering wheel, gear selector, handbrake, door entry guards and interior trims. Extended leather across the dashboard and door cards, black perforated leather, Alcantara rooflining, black instrument dials, Sound Package Plus, ParkAssist, rear wiper, top-tinted windscreen, Porsche floor mats and 19-inch Turbo alloys all help make this feel like a well-chosen example rather than an ordinary 997. Condition is a large part of why we like it so much. There is some light age-related wear inside, as you would expect from a car of this age and mileage, but nothing that detracts from the overall impression. It remains very presentable, honest and clearly cared for. The important thing is that it does not feel tired. It does not feel like a car that has been dragged through life and polished up for sale. It feels like a proper enthusiast-owned 911. The service portfolio is excellent, with a strong mixture of Porsche main dealer and respected specialist maintenance. It was serviced by Porsche Specialist Devon only last month and has since been freshly inspected by ourselves, including brake fluid. It also sits on Pirelli P Zero tyres all round, all showing upwards of 6mm tread, and the brakes are in very nice condition, again supporting the impression that this car has not had a hard life. The reason this 997 works so well is not one single headline. It is the combination of a manual gearbox, naturally aspirated 3.6 flat-six, Arctic Silver Metallic paint, Porsche Sports Exhaust, carbon interior package, strong service history, recent specialist maintenance and the way it has clearly been owned.
