I sorted this car out to carry on driving it but decided to upgrade after all. If you're not concerned about cosmetics, it will give you no mechanical worries. The car was checked at the same place that did the MOT; the brake pipes have no leaks, and the brake fluid is at a good level. Apparently, the brake pads and discs are as good as new. The car is safe to drive (that includes corroded parts). Cat N: minor damage that is repairable but the insurer declined to do so. Can be repaired for road use. The write-off happened because another driver reversed into me from the middle of the road, that caused a crack in the front bumper on the passenger side (see photo). That's also why there was a bodywork advisory on the latest MOT. There are also some bumper scuffs at the back (see photos).
