Description
My brother and I bought this car at the end of March this year. We wanted a roof-down car for a trip to visit friends in Germany, and the MX5 was a perfect choice. It's 1.8l engine gives it reasonable performance.
Except when we got it, this one didn't work. It had been sitting for a year (covered from the weather) after the immobiliser had decided the car was not going to start.
My brother, an expert and very experienced vehicle technician, soon uncovered a sequence of error codes that, once removed, allowed the car to burst into life. We gave the car a thorough service, with new brake pads, oil change and spark plugs and two new tyres.
With a fresh MoT, we had the road trip of a lifetime to Germany! The car ran faultlessly and continues to do so having brought a smile to our faces for 1700 miles. It still has low miles for its age.
But neither of us have the space to keep it in good order, so we have decided to sell it so someone else can enjoy a good little car for a low price.
The car is completely standard and was delivered new with the 'Options Pack' that gives it 16" alloy wheels, an enhanced sound system and leather steering wheel. It is in reasonable condition, although the MoT does make a couple of advisories that will need attention at its next service. In addition, there are some marks and scuffs on the bodywork and we have included pictures to show this. Overall, the car presents well. Although there are some signs that it has been repainted in places we believe this has been for cosmetic reasons and not due to accident damage.
The interior is in good condition, although the driver's seat has had a split neatly repaired at some point and is a little worn on the right hand squab. The windows are electric and getting the roof down is an easy manual process. Doorlocks work with the key. The sound system has AM/FM and takes CDs. There are two central cupholders, and one in each door panel.
The hood - with heated rear screen - is in good condition, and we have carefully reproofed it to make sure it stays watertight.
Under the bonnet is clean and tidy, and a new battery was installed in February.
The car came with a record of servicing bills and MoTs. There are two keys. As with most MX5s of this vintage, it doesn't have space for a spare wheel but does come with tyre sealant. The boot space is good for a car of this size and there are a reasonable number of cubby holes inside.
