Description
1968 Jaguar E-Type Series 1.5
46,000 original miles
Matching numbers
Incredibly cool black on black.
If you're buying an Etype with style, it should have the iconic covered headlights (only on the Series 1 from 1961-1967, or some of the rare Series 1.5 in 1968)
If you want a drivers car, then look for the Girling brakes upgrade of the Series 2 introduced from 1968
The best models are the 4.2 litre engine with the synchromesh 4 speed gear box, introduced in 1964
If you want to take family or friends of course you'll need the 2+2 / four seater
My car has ALL these features, which is why I have lovingly and enjoyably owned her for 12 years. It is extremely rare, indeed I have never seen another E Type that boasts both covered headlights and the brake upgrades.
If you want a cheap E type, buy a Series 2 or 3
Only if you are less than 1750cm tall, and you have over 90,000, consider a Series 1
If you're over 175cm look between 1965 and 1968, and if you're taller than 185cm only consider the 2+2
If you want an exceptional car that drives with excitement and honour, maybe you could be the next custodian for my E Type. If you are expecting a concours car though, don't contact me, mine is a drivers car.
Bodywork 8/10, interior 8/10, mechanically 8/10
I imported her from the US 12 years ago and immediately upgraded her with triple SU carbs as per UK/Europe spec. She starts every time and has never failed me in any way. I fitted a new clutch two years ago. No other mechanical work needed except regular servicing and maintenance. She is an original matching numbers beauty, fortunately repainted from red to black in the 1980's. Always garaged, only caught out in rain twice. Driven around 200 miles a year.
I am aware it is a buyers market so I have priced her to sell- despite my insurers still valuing her at over 60,000. Please do not contact me unless you can afford her.
