Description

Registration: YDB 403Y | Chassis: WP0ZZZ91ZCS141547 | MOT: July 2027 Rare 'C16' (UK market) car, thought to be one of just c.170 built during the 1982 model year. Off the road and in dry storage for almost thirty-five years, this exceptionally original SC shows just 64,000 warranted miles from new. Finished in the scarce factory colour of Platinum Metallic (655) with Beige/Brown Berber Tweed cloth upholstery. The SC (Super Carrera) played a pivotal role in cementing the 911 as Porsche's most iconic model. Launched in 1977 and built around a fully galvanised bodyshell with a re-engineered drivetrain, it used the type-930 2994cc flat-six with a die-cast aluminium crankcase and Nikasil-coated barrels – a significant improvement over the troublesome magnesium units of earlier 2.7-litre cars. Developing up to 204bhp, and paired with a revised five-speed 915 gearbox, the SC was capable of 146mph and 0-60mph in 6.8 seconds. With the UK typically accounting for 8-10% of 911 SC production, and just 1,737 'RoW' Targas built during the 1982 model year, chassis CS141547 is thought to be one of a mere 170 or so 'C16' cars delivered new to the UK. Finished in the rare and desirable Platinum Metallic (655) – a colour that debuted on the US-only 1980 Weissach Special Edition before joining the SC palette the following year – and trimmed in equally scarce Beige/Brown Berber Tweed, the car was supplied new via Porsche main dealer Ian Anthony (Sales) Ltd of Wilmslow to a local doctor. Specified with the 'Sport' pack (front/rear spoilers, uprated shocks, wider wheels, sports seats), it was main dealer serviced at 379, 2,513, 7,194, 13,849, 25,081, 37,038 and likely 51,500 miles. Acquired by its last registered keeper in 1989 and taken off the road two years later, the Targa has spent the past three and a half decades in dry storage. Recently recommissioned under the guidance of Quintessential Cars' sports and supercar specialists, 'YDB 403Y' is due a fresh MOT by the time of sale despite qualifying for exemption. It retains its original Blaupunkt radio/cassette and rides on period-correct Fondmetal 2600 E3 alloys, more usually associated with the 930 Turbo. An exceptionally original, timewarp example with real concours potential, this rare, low-mileage 911 SC Targa is ready for its next long-term custodian. Offered with V5 document, original book pack including stamped service book, 'Porsche Possessions' brochures and sundry paperwork. A special car.
