Description

It had a little bit of a bump at the front in a low speed hit in the rear at a roundabout and now combined with some of the other issues it was a bit too much for me to fix so I've replaced it with a B8. I will try to give as complete a picture as I can but obviously inspection will be essential. This is at least a project if not spares and repairs. The car was declared a category N write-off by the insurance due to the damage to the bumper. The car has an MOT until the end of October and a garage (which does MOTs) I took it to said, informally, that it would still pass but obviously I can't guarantee that. Aside from the damage at the front, the car has various scuffs and scrapes and a dent to the rear passengers door. These should hopefully be captured in the pictures. Asides from the damage there is a pre-existing coolant leak which would need resolving fairly sharpish. The leak is at the back of the engine in the coolant flange the so it is a little hard to reach hence why I hadn't got around to fixing it. After the crash I got a quote to repair this for 406.60. I have been driving it with the leak for a couple of months keeping the fluid topped up so it never overheated but obviously this isn't something you'd want to do for the long term. I recently changed the engine mounts as one had cracked. Since then there has been a rattle in reverse. The best I can tell this is the exhaust shielding rattling but I wasn't able to pin it down. I suspect it could do with some new suspension arms. Aside from all that! It has a good service history until I bought it at around 80,000 miles five years ago. Since then I have serviced it myself every 1 year/10,000 miles roughly whichever came first. The timing belt and water pump were changed a little while before I bought it (about 70,000 miles). The timing chain has never been changed but seems to be holding up fine for now. I replaced the cam follower at about 100,000 miles and found minimal wear on the old one. If nothing else it does have some good tread left on continental premium contacts!
