Description

I'm selling this car due to an intermittent fault which occasionally causes it to enter limp mode. I believe it's important to be completely transparent, as this fault is the only reason I'm selling what is otherwise a very good car. The fault code is P0088 - Fuel Rail/System Pressure Too High. The issue is intermittent and unpredictable; the car can drive perfectly for days or even weeks without any problems. When the fault occurs, acceleration is limited until the car is restarted, after which it returns to normal operation. I have spent over 700 GBP attempting to resolve the issue. Diagnostic work identified a leaking fuel return valve, resulting in replacement of the complete fuel pipe assembly, fuel pressure regulator valve and fuel rail pressure sensor. The car then ran fault-free for several weeks before the issue returned. All paperwork is available. Aside from this fault, the car drives very well, with smooth acceleration, plenty of power and a comfortable drive. The metallic blue paintwork presents nicely, and the interior is exceptionally clean and tidy for its age. Recent maintenance includes: New MOT (16/07/26) Full service (January 26) Timing belt and coolant pump replaced (24/01/26) - 500 GBP Two new front tyres (23/12/25) - 175 GBP New gear stick Replacement VW wheel caps and exterior trim piece Alloy wheels cleaned and polished I have spent well over 1,600 GBP on maintenance and repairs since purchasing the vehicle. Cosmetically, there were previously minor scratches to the rear wheel arch and paint peeling to the bumper. These have been repaired using the correct PaintNuts paint system. The bumper repair looks good; the wheel arch repair is visible on close inspection but is a significant improvement on the original damage. The service history is not complete, although I have all paperwork that came with the car and will provide everything I have. Viewings welcome. Sold as seen and sensible offers considered. If you're mechanically minded or simply want a tidy Golf with a known intermittent fault, this could be an excellent value buy.
