The Suzuki Ignis Sport was Suzuki's response to winning the World Junior Rally Championship. Sold between 2003 and 2006, Suzuki took the standard boring Ignis and lowered it, up'd the power to 107bhp from a 1.5 non-turbo engine, lowered it, gave it Recaro seats, Enki Alloy wheels, a body kit which according to the promotional brochure increases the car's aerodynamics and then lightened the car so that it weighs less than a metric tonne at about 975kg! Not one of those modifications makes the Ignis special, but combine them all and you have a car that punches way above its weight. The 8.9 seconds to 60mph is not blistering, but keep the engine singing above 4,000 RPM when you change gear and you will be in for a treat on any rural B-road. This is what Suzuki made the Ignis Sport for. It isn't made for straight line speed, it is made for those fun technical roads. If you want a unique car that punches well above its weight, is practical and fun (how often can you say that about cars nowadays?) and reasonable on fuel, then the Ignis Sport is the car for you! The car is good on fuel.
