Description

Genuinely standard, honestly presented and ready to be used, this is a classic for someone who wants to actually drive it rather than just polish it. This C180 Esprit is finished in Imperial Red with automatic transmission, retaining its Esprit cloth interior, steel wheels with hub caps and a dealer-fit Blaupunkt Pasadena DJ stereo with boot-mounted CD changer. Original tool kit, spare wheel and warning triangle are all present. Provenance on a car like this matters, and this one has plenty of it. Recorded services at Mercedes dealerships or specialists span decades: pre-inspection in August 1995, then October 1996, November 1998, March 2001, November 2003, July 2010 and July 2015. Under my ownership for the last four years, it's had annual services and any maintenance required to keep it running properly. I have, where possible and if they are available, used original Mercedes parts. This includes coolant hoses, clips, hardware and gaskets. I hold supporting invoices along with original brochures and other period artefacts that add real depth to its story. In the interest of full transparency, earlier in its life the car sustained minor accident damage under a previous owner. At the time, the insurer's assessment was that repair wasn't economically worthwhile, but the original owner demanded his was was repaired by Mercedes, rather than writing it off, and it presents in great condition today as a result. Happy to talk through this, or any part of the history, in as much detail as you'd like. To be clear about what this car is: it's a well-sorted, standard, usable classic, not a garage queen and not a concours contender, although it certainly has potential to be. It is incredibly clean underneath and original (except for a stainless mid-section exhaust (NLA from Mercedes) - NOS rear silencer). It's mechanically sound and MOT'd to June 2027, and it deserves to be driven and enjoyed. If you're after a trailer queen show car for concours events, this probably isn't it, you'll want to add another 3,000 or more to your budget and look elsewhere. But if you want a genuine classic Mercedes you can use daily, this is exactly that. Reason for sale is simple driveway economics. My daughter turns 17 soon and needs a space for her own car. Between an original Lotus Elan, a Ford Puma, a Peugeot 106 Rallye and a motorbike., something has to give. This car will genuinely be missed.
