Description
This has been a much-loved enthusiast-owned car and has had a significant amount of time and money invested into keeping it mechanically right. Only selling as have a new project.
Timing belt and dephaser done in 2023 at 117k miles.
Gearbox inspected and 3rd and 4th gear synchro's replaced at 118k miles in 2024.
The car has been my daily driver for the past 12 months and has never let me down. It starts first time every time, runs smoothly and has always been properly maintained and warmed up before being driven, always ran on E5.
I took the car on a 3,000+ mile European road trip late last year, including multiple 10+ hour driving days, and it performed faultlessly with no overheating issues or reliability concerns.
Just done a 300-mile trip last week as well and again ran with no issues.
Currently 133,000 miles and still drives very well, with the engine pulling strongly and the gearbox selecting all gears as it should.
Bits done in my ownership:
BC Racing coil overs - done less than 3000 miles and less than 6 months old
Powerflex upper engine mount and gearbox mount
Vibratechnics dogbone gearbox mount
ZPO weighted shift knob
Focal component speakers
Pioneer head unit
New OSF knuckle assembly
New inner and outer steering/suspension linkages
New CV boots
New radiator and cooling fan
Full coolant flush
New iridium spark plugs
New coil packs
Regular oil and filter servicing (3 times in my ownership - 122k, 127k and 132.5k)
New over-spec battery
The car has also benefited from good ownership, including main dealer servicing from 2017-2025.
The bodywork is showing its age, mainly the boot lid which has cracked paint and couple dents, mainly passenger door. The windscreen also has a few chips. There is a metallic chatter on deceleration; however, the car drives, engages gears and performs as it should. This has been reflected in the asking price. Occurred since new mounts and lowered, potentially something rubbing underneath.
A great opportunity for someone looking for a usable Clio 197 with expensive maintenance items already completed. Previous owner also replaced NSF knuckle assembly, so all major suspension jobs sorted which are the major expensive ones on these.
Subframe has some rust and has been treated but never had an MOT advisory for rust, solid car underneath.
A good car for someone to spend a bit of time tidying up cosmetically with all the major expenses already addressed.
*Car to come with the original black Renault wheels.
