It simply plugs into the vehicle's USB port, with no wiring changes or permanent modifications made to the car. Charging The original BMW 3-pin charging cable unfortunately failed a few years ago. The vehicle will instead be supplied with a portable Type 2 EV charger featuring an 8-metre cable, digital display, and adjustable charging current (8A/10A/13A). This charger provides a faster charging rate than the original BMW charger and can fully charge the battery from empty in approximately 4 hours using a standard 3-pin socket. The electric-only range is typically 19-25 miles on a full charge, depending on weather conditions, driving style, terrain and use of the heating or air conditioning.
