Description

A well-loved member of the family that I have owned since 2017. She has covered 207,000 miles. She has a five-speed manual gearbox and is registered as a 12-seater on the V5 (Autotrader description won't let me choose 12!). The central front seat is not currently fitted but will be supplied with the car. The rear bench seats have three seat belts each side. I'm selling because the children have grown up and, with a Discovery 4 as well, she is no longer getting the use she deserves. The engine runs well, the gearbox is smooth and the four-wheel-drive system, low range and diff lock all work as they should. She has full service history and was last serviced in March 2026 with fresh engine oil, oil filter and air filter. Nearly 4,000 has been spent in 2026 on the main big-ticket TD5 jobs: a new heavy-duty clutch, new dual-mass flywheel, new air-conditioning compressor and replacement ABS shuttle valve plus a new battery. All were fitted by my local garage in Wiltshire using new parts. The factory-fit air conditioning was regassed and pressure tested in June and blows nice and cold. Most of this work became necessary just after I promised my wife I would finally sell the Defender. The old girl tried hard to make me break that promise! A TD5 Alive Stage 1 remap was fitted by the first owner (service history contains the invoice). It gives the TD5 enough extra performance to keep up with modern traffic and cruise comfortably on the motorway. MPG is improved slightly too. Other extras include Skytag tracker, Britpart Lynxeye LED headlights (c. 400 a pair new), Britpart LED lights all round, a roof rack, side protection bars, new bumper, snorkel and polybushed suspension. She sits on standard alloy wheels with BFGoodrich tyres. The interior is in good condition. The Alveston Red paintwork is acceptable for its age, with some lacquer peel and new paint on a few panels. The chassis has had welding during its life and the outriggers were recently replaced. There is some corrosion in the front floor pans, but no obvious rust around the bulkhead, door pillars or windscreen. MOT until 2 March 2027. V5 and full history present. This is a genuine, usable Defender rather than a polished show vehicle. She drives well, has plenty of character and has benefited from significant recent mechanical work.
