I know, I know. "It's a Qashqai." There are approximately seventeen billion of them on British roads. You can't pop to Tesco without seeing three of them before you've even made it to the meal deal aisle. So why should this one be the one you get excited about? Well, for starters... look at it. It's finished in Magnetic Blue metallic, which is a genuinely lovely colour. Not another depressing shade of "Accountant Grey" or "Lease Car White". It's got a bit of personality without looking like you've had a mid-life crisis and bought something lime green. It's just enough to make you glance back at it in the car park and think, "Yeah... that's actually quite nice." Then there's the important bit. It's the Hybrid with the automatic gearbox. Which means it's cheaper to run than a lot of SUVs this size, and driving it is about as stressful as watching ducks on a pond. Stick it in Drive, point it vaguely in the direction you want to go and let it get on with the job while you sit there feeling far calmer than everyone else who's still playing footsie with a clutch in traffic. The kit's decent as well. Sat nav, radar-guided cruise control, climate control with air conditioning, Bluetooth, touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, lane departure warning... honestly, it does so much that if I listed every last feature, you'd still be reading this when Nissan launches the next Qashqai. And then there's the boring-but-brilliant stuff. It's had just one owner, comes with a full Nissan service history and both original keys. Before it leaves us, we'll give it a fresh service, a brand-new MOT, and we'll chuck in a 12-month parts and labour warranty as well. So yes, there are loads of Qashqais out there. But not many that look this good, have this sort of history, this level of spec, and come with all of that already sorted. Which is handy, because it means you can spend less time worrying about cars... and more time worrying about literally everything else life throws at you.
