Description
1997 Land Rover Defender 110 Soft Top
R147 JBA | 136,429 miles
A 1997 Defender 110 professionally converted to Beach Runner style with a full-length dark grey soft top. Built for open-air driving and ready to use as a proper beach cruiser with plenty of life left in it.
Factory RHD, built 1997 and first UK registered December 2010 after overseas use. Four UK keepers. The previous owner held it for twelve years. Bought by the current owner in March 2023 at around 132,000 miles. V5 present. Full MOT history is available on the government portal.
Powered by the proven 2.5 Tdi turbo diesel with five-speed manual gearbox and permanent four-wheel drive plus high/low range transfer box. Configured as a ten-seater with front seats and two side-facing rear benches, all with belts. The conversion includes roll-up side panels and clear vinyl windows, LED headlights, later-style grille, snorkel, black chequer plate on the wings and lower body, side-hinged rear door, spare wheel carrier and a heavy-duty tubular tow bar. The soft top can be fully removed when required.
Finished in Aintree Green metallic. Soft top is in good usable condition. There are paint blemishes, stone chips, scratches and age-related marks throughout, as expected on a working Defender of this age. The underside shows typical surface rust on the chassis, axles, springs and associated parts. Nothing has been hidden or covered up. It is by no means perfect. Body colour steel wheels with all-terrain tyres are currently fitted.
Interior features Windsor Tan leather front seats with black sides and light piping, matching rear benches, central cubby box with armrest and cup holders, and hard-wearing black chequer-plate rubber flooring. Practical, easy to clean and still presents well, with normal wear from use. An immobiliser switch is fitted in a discreet location.
The 2.5 Tdi runs and drives as a Defender should, delivering usable low-down torque. The engine bay shows normal age-related dirt and wear. Underside has clear surface rust but remains structurally serviceable for continued recreational use.
This is not a restored or concours example. It has surface rust underneath, paint marks and the honest character of a used Defender. What it is, however, is a great little beach cruiser that is ready to be driven and enjoyed. Ideal for coastal runs, tracks, festivals, events or weekend adventures. Viewing is recommended so you can assess the condition for yourself.
