Straight through rear pipes - great V8 roar under throttle, gentle burble around town and light throttle, at 70mph barely audible over Classic FM.
Dashboard replaced - as the leather had separated on the original, which is a common issue.
Good bits
Uses the ever reliable AJ34S 4.2 litre V8 Supercharged engine giving the XF a dual personality - silky smooth burble about town or cruising or a bit of a hooligan with a heavy foot (exactly as a Jaguar should be!)
They are increasingly rare with not much more than 200 examples on the road from a UK production of circa 440 units.
It's been 100% reliable in my ownership stepping in to cover the less reliable cars in the fleet.
Bad bits
Body and paint is good for an 18 year old car but there are some surface scratches and blemishes to be expected. It still turns heads and looks good.
Intermittent 'Check Pedestrian System' warning light on the dash. Crash sensors have been replaced with new units but has made no difference. It does not affect how the car drives, it is exempt from being an MOT failure for a 2008 model year, and it has sailed through its tests with it active.
Air conditioning isn't very cold.
Previous surface rust advisories on the MOT - This seems to have been halted and reversed via regular annual Lanoguard treatments.
Passenger door - works fine but is a bit 'stiff' after replacing the original failed mechanism.
Rear right door - intermittently will not unlock.
Alloy wheels are ready for a refurb.
