Description
For sale is my UK Original MK1 MX5 NA 1.6. 6 owners from new, the previous owner had the car since 1999 and I bought it in 2021 from Goodwood Sports Cars in Berwick upon Tweed.
The previous owner kept every receipt and I have all that paperwork including MOT's going back to then. Very detailed history. I have added an image of the work I have completed since I bought the car. I wanted to make the car a little more user friendly and slightly more modern without losing the originality.
I have fitted a full stainless steel exhaust, new springs and shock to standard ride height etc. Also a Ram Air induction unit..I have the original which will go with the car. Dame for the centre console, again a more comfortable version but original available. I also fitted leather seats...I have the originals also.
I completed a very major Service at Mazdadudes in Darlington, I spent around 1800. Usual service items for a front end overhaul as well as a new Mazda clutch kit.
New refurbished daisy alloys.
The car drives really really well and is a simple pleasure with the ;lovely mazda gearbox. I fitted a shorter shifter, original with the car, but it makes the drive so engaging and involves you with the spirit of these cars.
Also a double DIN Alpine head unit for phone connectivity..new speaker system to match.
Fresh MOT a couple of week ago and I have just returned from a 300 mile trip.
Car has been dry stored since 2000 and I have never driven in the winter or wet and garaged and covered when not in use.
Start first time every single time and I have never had a single issue with the car.
So I treated the underside of the car, the next stage in this cars life is the body work.
I'm not really wanting to get involved with this and have bought a MK4 Sport Recaro to replace it.
There is very little rust on the car or in the usual places but it is not without completely.
At the rear from arches, the usual rust spots in these, they are still solid with no holes but the paint has peeled off and makes it look worse than it is.
Nothing needs doing with any immediacy, but for a perfect finish, the next project in the next few years would be some rust prevention work...if you want a perfect car that is.
As it stands, it looks fantastic, drives superbly and has been a pleasure to own.
I also have a matching hard top for the car, available as a first option for the buyer to purchase.
Any questions feel free to give me a shout.
