Description
2001 Rover Mini Cooper Sport 56,200miles
A very original adaptation of a genuine late-production 2001 Rover Mini Cooper Sport, representing the very last evolution of the iconic classic Mini. Finished in Anthracite Black with a Platinum silver roof Black and Silver leather interior, this is an increasingly collectible example of one of the final 2,091 Cooper Sports ever built.
The Cooper Sport was introduced as the flagship of the classic Mini range, featuring the sought-after Sports Pack as standard. Powered by the renowned 1275cc Multi-Point Fuel Injected (MPI) engine and 4-speed manual gearbox, it combines the character of the original Mini with improved refinement, safety and reliability.
This particular car has covered just 56,200 genuine miles and has had only five former keepers. It comes with an exceptionally well-presented history file containing MOT certificates, service records, maintenance invoices and period photographs documenting the car throughout its life.
More than 7000 has been invested in servicing and maintenance, all supported by invoices, demonstrating the level of care this Mini has received.
Amongst these are gearbox rebuild with new clutch and flywheel, new rear crossmember a full service book of stamps and considerable upkeep evidence beyond standard care.
This car was deliberately given a more traditional Mini appearance, having had the wider Sport arches removed. Although still retaining the original colour scheme, chrome now follows the recognisable arches and sills plus stripes and cooper sport decals are no longer there pushing back the years but retaining the Mpi twin point performance, disc brakes, immobiliser and alarm full Bluetooth Kenwood stereo etc. However wings are still ready to accept the sport pack wider wheels and arches, should the new owner prefer the final iteration.
The Cooper Sport marked the end of Sir Alec Issigonis' legendary Mini, with production ending in October 2000 before a small number, including this example, were first registered in 2001. Of the 3,493 classic Minis produced in 2000, only 2,091 were Cooper Sports, with approximately 1,000 finished in Anthracite Black.
A wonderful opportunity to own one of the final and most desirable classic Minis produced but with a stronger classic look. This is a genuine, low-mileage, enthusiast-owned example with excellent provenance, extensive history and nothing to hide. Walk around video on request.
