Description

1974 Triumph TR6 2.5 Overdrive - Maple Brown - Extensive Provenance Offered for sale is my 1974 Triumph TR6, finished in its original Maple Brown with black interior and factory steel wheels. Originally supplied to California before being imported into the UK in 1995, this genuine dry-state TR6 has had just three known owners since 1993, with my ownership spanning ten years. Rather than undertaking a single body-off restoration, the car has benefited from a programme of systematic mechanical refurbishment, preservation and sympathetic improvement. It has been maintained with an emphasis on long-term reliability whilst retaining original Triumph components wherever practical. Major work during my ownership includes conversion from left-hand drive to right-hand drive, the original four-speed gearbox being fully rebuilt with a rebuilt J-type overdrive unit, new clutch, differential inspected and rebuilt with new thrust washers, seals and gaskets, driveline refurbished with new universal joints, front and rear suspension rebuilt with SuperFlex polyurethane bushes throughout, brake system overhauled including braided flexible hoses, new Autosparks front and rear wiring looms, fuel tank refurbishment, chassis preservation and numerous additional improvements completed over the past decade. The original body and chassis remain in remarkable condition, having benefited from the car's early life in California. The car presents extremely well and has been regularly driven, enjoyed and continuously maintained throughout my ownership. The history file is exceptional and includes the original US registration documents, over 30 years of documented UK history, extensive invoices and specialist receipts, MOT certificates dating back to 1995 (with only three years currently unavailable), together with a professionally produced 76-page hardback photographic provenance portfolio documenting much of the work carried out during my ownership. Although now MOT exempt, the car has continued to receive annual MOT inspections throughout my ownership. The only reason for sale is that, since purchasing a genuine TR8 around five years ago, I find myself using the TR8 far more often and the TR6 simply isn't receiving the use it deserves. Viewing by appointment in Stockport, Cheshire.
