Description
2014 Mazda 6 2.2 Skyactiv-D Estate Manual - Spares or Repair -
** NO WASTE TIMERS PLEASE **
For sale is my 2014 Mazda 6 2.2 Skyactiv-D Estate Manual, with approximately 105,000 miles.
The car starts normally, runs and drives, but it is being sold strictly as spares or repair due to the mechanical issues described below.
The vehicle has a full MOT valid until June 2027.
Known issues and symptoms
- "DPF Inspection Required" message displayed
- Reduced power and poor acceleration from lower RPM
- The smaller turbo does not appear to provide the expected boost at lower engine speeds
- The car pulls better once the larger turbo operates at higher RPM
- Hissing/escaping-air type noise coming from around the EGR or intake area
- DPF regenerations appear to be happening more frequently
- The exact cause of the problem has not been professionally confirmed
The issue may be related to the EGR system, intake system, vacuum system, boost control or sequential twin-turbo system, but this is not a confirmed diagnosis.
Previous checks and recent work
A considerable amount of maintenance and repair work has been carried out during my ownership:
- Rear brake discs and pads replaced
- Both rear brake calipers replaced
- Front suspension control arms/wishbones replaced
- Suspension top mounts replaced
- Drop link replaced
- Injector sealing washers replaced
- Engine oil pickup strainer cleaned when the oil sump was removed
- Dual-mass flywheel and clutch replaced approximately two years ago
- Vacuum pump replaced approximately six months ago
- Smoke test carried out on the intake/boost system, but no obvious external air leak was found
- Car serviced in preparation for its MOT, including engine oil and filters
- Front tyres replaced approximately six months ago
- Rear tyres still have usable life remaining
I have proof of purchase for many of the replacement parts.
The vehicle currently starts, runs and can be driven. However, because of the reduced low-RPM performance and the DPF warning, it is not being advertised as fault-free or suitable for normal daily use without further diagnosis and repair.
I am not repairing the car because I am waiting for my new vehicle and do not want to spend any more money on this one.
The car comes with two keys.
It could be a worthwhile project for someone familiar with Mazda Skyactiv-D engines who is able to diagnose and repair it themselves.
