Description

A rare opportunity to buy a superb metallic black gen 2 G31 BMW 540i M Sport Touring xDrive MHEV, with ivory nappa leather interior and 20" alloy wheels. 48,100 miles, FBMWSH, 12,000 miles until the next service. MOT runs until February 2027. Lovely spec including M Sport Plus, Adaptive Suspension (must have option), Comfort Pack (comfort memory seats, keyless entry, reversing camera, heated seats, steering wheel), M Sport trimmed seatbelts. This is my second one of these; I ran a gen 1 G31 from new for over 6 years and c 67,000 miles. I had this one from BMW Solihull when it had done c 25,500 miles; I am the second owner. These are astonishingly good cars and for those discerning people who wish to have one of the finest 6 cylinder petrol engines made, don't want a diesel engine and don't want a 4 banger, this is the pick. C 340 bhp: proper, effortless, silken shove but equally a wonderful companion on a 640 mile one day return trip from Europe. Many 5 series Tourings are specced with black interiors. The light ivory interior of this car (likewise my previous car) give them a massively more spacious feel. Shortly after I had taken delivery of my first one, we flew to Munich with our three children and hired a G31 530d Touring, all black inside. The kids (15, 14 and 9 at the time) absolutely refused to believe that it was the same model of car, as it felt so much smaller inside with the black interior. The gen 2 is not radically different from the gen 1, just subtly better in most ways. The biggest change is the mild hybrid system, which I didn't even clock when I was looking to change to a gen 2. It makes the car significantly more efficient and also makes the start/stop absolutely imperceptible, whereas the old one was quite agricultural. On a long run we regularly see 38-39 mpg and over the past 8,700 miles, it has averaged 32.8 mpg all in. The updated i-drive system is better, the screen is larger and as well as live traffic information, I have subscribed for the "safety" (ie speed) camera alerts. CarPlay included. This car has done a mix of long distances (regularly Germany, Austria, Durham, Leeds) and local driving. The car has mostly run on Vredestein Quatrac Pro+ all season tires (which are excellent) so one can get the proper benefits of the four wheel drive system in wintry conditions. The buyer is also welcome (at no cost) to have the full set of very little worn Goodyear Eagle F1 run-flat tires it arrived on.
