Rare Highline run-out model supplied new by Hampshire Cars BMW on 1st August 1988 and Family owned for 29 years with 13 BMW Stamps. Styled by Paul Bracq, famed designing the Mercedes SL 'Pagado', the 6 series BMW, internally known as the E24, often seen as the original BMW Grand Tourer with its seductive Coupe styling, a spacious open interior, large cavernous boot and large capacity engine.
This 1988 example presents to a very high standard with paintwork in great overall condition, with odd marks, as to be expected from a 38 year old classic, but with strong panels and depth of shine. Rubbers, glass, lens', 'Highline' arch spats, spoilers etc all remain in excellent condition and the same extends further when opening the doors, boot lid or tilting the bonnet forward. With the optional Sports seats, showing slight patina, electrically operated and fully adjustable, including head-rests and thigh support adjustment, with the drivers seat having the 'memory pack'.
There is a gap in MOT history when the vehicle was SORN because the previous owner became ill and the car was unused for nearly 20 years during this period. The car subsequently passed to the owners' son in December 2023. I bought the car in December 2024 and have covered just over 800 miles since I bought it. Oil service done August 2026.
Highly coveted back in the late 80's the E24 was a hugely expensive car at the time. The 3.5 litre straight six starts easily and out on the open road, she drives faultlessly, strong brakes, tight steering, and a great gearbox The history file for the car is supported within the dealer book pack, the Service booklet indicating 13 BMW services following the usual BMW schedule of Oil Service, Inspection I, Oil Service, Inspection II and so on. It's worth noting that in 1992 the dealer, BMW Hampshire Cars, replaced the speedo at 30477 miles. With the car now showing almost 53000 miles this offers overall mileage of 83420miles. Viewing welcome.
