Description

Fresh on the forecourt this morning, we’ve got the Ford Puma. Yes, that Puma. And before you say it - “wasn’t that supposed to be a little coupe back in the day?” - yes, it was. You’re absolutely right. But apparently now everything has to be an SUV. I don’t make the rules, I just sell the consequences of them. That said… this isn’t just some lazy reboot. It’s actually pretty good. It’s got a slightly higher driving position, obviously, because SUV, but you don’t feel like you’re sat on a bar stool like some of the others. It’s lower, sportier, and the whole interior is very much set up around the driver - which is nice, because you’re the one stuck in traffic, not the passengers. And the handling - this is where it gets interesting. It doesn’t drive like a boring family car. It’s more like a hot hatch that’s had a sensible conversation with itself. So yeah, maybe not hot hot… more like a “had a jog once this week” hatch. But still fun. And then when you’re done pretending you’re in a car advert, it’s perfectly happy just cruising to the shops without any drama. Size-wise, it’s one of those cars that manages to do everything without being annoying. Big enough for shopping, kids, pets, whatever stage of life chaos you’re currently in - but still small enough that you’re not sweating trying to park it in a tight town centre space while someone judges you. Spec-wise, it’s got everything you’d expect now - reverse sensors, sat nav, Bluetooth, touchscreen with Apple CarPlay so you can ignore people on messages in a more modern way. All the stuff that used to be exciting extras and now you’d be annoyed if it didn’t have. It’s a one-owner car, comes with two keys and service history, and we’ll give it a fresh MOT and a service before you take it away - so you don’t have to immediately start worrying about what’s going to go wrong. Now, I suppose we should address the elephant in the room. The price. Because we price our cars amongst the most competitively in the country, and occasionally that seems to make people suspicious. Which is an odd situation, isn’t it? You charge too much and people complain. You charge too little and suddenly everyone thinks you’re running some sort of elaborate criminal enterprise. “Why’s it so cheap?” Well, perhaps the photos were taken six years ago and it currently looks like it’s been parked at the bottom of the North Sea. Maybe when you arrive we’ll explain that the advertised price is actually just for the front half, and the boot, wheels and steering wheel are part of our Premium Car Completion Package™. Or maybe — and stay with me here because this is going to sound absolutely mental — we just sell cars for good prices. We’re a small family business. We own our own site instead of renting like so many do. So, our overheads are tiny compared with some of the massive dealerships we compete against, so rather than adding that saving onto the price of the car so we can drive around in Bentleys and spend February in the Bahamas… We pass it on to you. I know. Disgusting business practice. So there’s no sinister catch, no mysterious extras and no bloke appearing from behind a curtain halfway through the deal to tell you the advertised price didn’t include the engine. It’s just a fantastic, nearly-new, one-owner car, absolutely loaded with equipment... for a price that makes you wonder why everyone else is charging so much. Because apparently, we’re just that nice.
