Description

If you are looking for one of these please read on, I have provided a useful description of this car which has been a wrench for me to sell but is an ideal start, 90% done, and a really easy project to make perfect. I have owned this car since 2010. It was built in December 1985 and first registered in January 1986, it is therefore a pretty early Turbo. According to the publicly available information there are very few 1985 cars left. The car is black and the interior is black leather / black carpets with grey overmats. Its an older respray and presents very well although it is starting to need some minor attention to paint. The interior is good, the drivers seat has been repaired with the correct perforated leather. Door cards are very presentable. The interior panels around the rear windows and hatch are less good and could do with a refresh. As usual with these cars, the dash top is cracked (see photo). The sunroof is fully functional. It has a working digital clock and the odometer drive has been replaced. A Blaupunkt cassette radio is fitted and is fully functional. In total the car has covered 172,000 miles. The engine starts and runs well with 5 bar oil pressure on the highway reducing to 2.5 bar at idle when warm. The turbo was overhauled in 2021 And works as designed although the boost gauge is currently u/s. Engine cooling is spot on even during our recent 30 deg+ weather, a new radiator was fitted some years ago. Gear selection and clutch operation is fault-free. New clutch, clutch master and slave cylinders have been fitted in the relatively recent past. Under the bonnet looks very tidy with many new and re-plated components. The car has been looked after, upgraded and serviced as needed. Recent improvements have seen the injector harness and boost controller replaced, and the fuel connection linking the rail to the FPR, failure of which can cause an underbonnet fire. Body repairs have included professional sill welded repairs. The car has an MoT until July 2027 although it is exempt and has zero tax by virtue of being 40+ years old. The MoT advisories identified slight steering joint play which is an easy fix. Wheels are the factory-fit teledial 16 inch rims with Continental tyres which have loads of tread. The condition is good (see photos). Engine work has been limited to a cylinder head rebuild to coincide with the timing belt replacement in 2015. The turbocharger was also rebuilt in 2021.
