Description

Selling my 2004 Mazda MX-5 as a project car. It recently failed its MOT (August 2026), I have had the structural welding repaired, meaning the corrosion defect at the offside front inner anti-roll bar mounting has been professionally sorted. This MX-5 has been a very loved car and has been thoroughly looked after during my ownership. It comes with the V5C logbook alongside a comprehensive folder packed with receipts, service history, and past repair bills. While it is no longer economically viable for me to keep investing in garage labor rates for these repairs, it has plenty of life left in it. This is a reluctant sale of a cherished sports car, and it will make a fantastic, highly rewarding project for an enthusiast or home mechanic who can do the remaining work themselves. As a great bonus, the car comes fitted with a hardwired dashcam (front and rear facing - would require a new SD Card) and a modern touchscreen infotainment system featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It makes the cabin feel much more modern and is perfect for daily driving. However, if you prefer the classic look, I also have the original factory stereo system packed away safely, which will be included in the sale. Recently replaced alternator and belt, recently replaced exhaust. The driver side window mechanism had to be replaced and when the garage installed it they somehow reversed it, so up is down and down is up, I never got round to fixing it. Minor cosmetic damage from the previous owner (around rear passenger side wheel arch), as well as wear and tear in line with a car being driven for 22 years. The Project Details (Remaining MOT Work Needed): The car will require a few remaining mechanical and electrical fixes to pass its re-test. The certificate notes the following items: Brakes: Needs a new rear offside brake disc (seriously weakened) and new rear offside pads. The handbrake cable needs adjusting, and there is a service brake fluctuation on the offside rear. Suspension: Four ball joint dust covers need replacing (Nearside Front Upper/Lower and Offside Front Upper/Lower). Lighting: Nearside dipped beam headlamp is not working, and the offside headlamp aim needs adjusting. Advisories: Minor exhaust gas leak. The underside has some advisory surface corrosion but is covered in under-seal. Open to Offers
