Description

I'm selling my 1988 Peugeot 205 GTI 1.6 after putting a significant amount of time and money into getting it mechanically sorted. It's a genuine 1.6 GTI and is now a really usable example that drives brilliantly. Within the last month I've had a huge amount of work completed, all using new parts. This includes Michelin Pilot Sport 3 tyres all round, a full Milltek exhaust system, front discs and pads, rear drums and shoes, timing belt and water pump, Bilstein B4 suspension front and rear, front drop links, new gear linkages, battery, starter motor and front anti-roll bar bushes. I've also had the steering wheel refurbished and fitted a set of 1.9 GTI wheels. These obviously aren't original to a 1.6, but personally I think they really suit the car and improve the overall look. The car underwent a full nut-and-bolt restoration approximately 10 years ago and comes with a comprehensive photo album documenting the work. The engine bay and underside are still in excellent condition and it has been dry stored in recent years. Mechanically it's very well sorted and ready to be enjoyed. It has also passed its last three MOTs with no advisories. I want to be completely upfront about the cosmetics. A previous owner stored the car under a cover, which has resulted in some micro-blistering to the paint in places. From a few feet away it presents really well, but when you get close you can see the imperfections. There is also some bubbling around the rear quarters and sunroof. I considered having the paintwork done, but personally I don't think it warrants a full respray. As it stands, it's a 205 GTI that you can actually use and enjoy without worrying about every stone chip or mark. Equally, someone could address the cosmetics over time and take it to the next level. Overall, it's an honest, mechanically strong 205 GTI with a lot of recent expenditure and great restoration history. I've tried to be as transparent as possible about its condition and would much rather someone comes to view it and sees exactly what they're buying.
