Description
This is our Kia ProCeed 1.6 T-GDi GT, a car that sits somewhere between a sporty hatchback and a practical estate. Kia calls it a shooting brake, and that sums it up pretty well - you get the low, swept-back shape and frameless-looking profile of something much sportier, but there's still five-door access and a genuinely useful 594-litre boot behind it. Under the bonnet is Kia's 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 201 bhp, paired exclusively with the 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. It's noticeably quicker and more responsive than the regular ProCeed models, but it's not trying to be an uncomfortable full-on hot hatch. There's plenty of performance when you want it, while the automatic gearbox makes it easy enough to use every day. The GT specification gives the car a proper identity of its own. You get distinctive 18-inch alloy wheels with red centre caps, red brake calipers, red exterior detailing, a more aggressive rear diffuser and twin exhaust outlets. The LED bi-function headlights finish the look off nicely and give the GT a much sharper appearance than the standard ProCeed. Inside carries on the same theme without going overboard. The black leather and faux-suede sports seats with red stitching provide plenty of support, while the heated front seats and heated steering wheel make it a very easy car to live with once winter arrives.
