Description
Lovely example of the E46 320Cd Coupe with under 100,000 miles, which is becoming increasingly difficult to find, particularly in this condition.
I originally bought the car for my mum as a reliable runaround. She was concerned that a BMW might be expensive to run, so I ended up keeping it myself and have been using it as my own runaround. Ironically, it has actually proved very cheap to run and extremely reliable.
The 2.0 diesel engine is well known for being a tough, long-lasting unit, gives excellent fuel economy and still has plenty of performance. It drives really well and handles brilliantly - exactly what you'd expect from an E46.
During my ownership I have spent money getting the car properly sorted, including:
* New alternator
* New suspension arms
* New track rod ends
* New tyres
* Full wheel balancing and tracking
* New engine mounts
* Wing mirrors repainted
* Recently serviced
* MOT
It also benefits from heated seats.
The interior has held up very well for its age. The seats have no rips, tears or excessive wear, although they would probably benefit from a good steam clean to bring them back to their best.
The bodywork is also excellent for a 23-year-old car, as the photos show. With just 99k miles, it's unusually low mileage for one of these diesel E46s.
Bad points
I want to be completely upfront about the few imperfections:
* Small area of rust on the panel below the boot - I've been quoted £180 to have this repaired and repainted
* One interior speaker cover is cracked
* Seats would benefit from a steam clean, but importantly they aren't worn or torn
Other than those minor points, it's a really nice, honest example. A lot of the usual age-related mechanical jobs have already been done and it drives extremely well.
Viewings welcome; just outside of Caterham. Priced to sell.
