Description
This is a genuinely reluctant sale. I bought it at around 62,000 miles intending to keep it until it died, and I've loved the roughly 18,000 miles I've covered since. Anyone who likes Freelander 1s will understand: I love how it looks, drives and even the turbo whistle.
My job and commute now involve client meetings and longer journeys, so I've bought a newer Ford better suited to everyday work use. I can't justify keeping both, which is the only reason it's going.
It's a 2005 TD4 S in rare factory green, paint code 904, with 17-inch Sport alloys and Continental tyres.
Work by Muddy Mods:
New front lower wishbones Known-good refurbished rear differential, previously used for around six months New VCU with upgraded bearings Gearbox, IRD and differential oils changed
Other work during my ownership:
New rear lower trailing arms Rear drums rebuilt with new internals New front discs, pads and calipers All metal brake lines replaced throughout New left-front wheel bearing New fuel filter and exhaust back box New front wipers; new rear wiper included
Extras include a new-old-stock soft nudge bar, refurbished roof rails, front/side/rear light guards, Muddy Mods mud flaps, heavy-duty sump guard and tow bar.
The dog guard, rear window guard and bonnet checker plate were stripped and powder-coated black. The dog guard is fitted; the other two are included but not fitted. Also included are an EGR delete kit, touch-up paint, original sump guard, original front mud guards and a genuine thermostat. The current thermostat works as it should.
The service book has ten stamps between approximately 4,000 and 52,000 miles. I serviced it myself shortly after buying it at 62,000, hence no garage invoice. It could do with another service soon and I'm happy to do this before collection by agreement.
Being 21 years old, it isn't perfect. The rear driver's window regulator cable has failed, although the motor works, and the tailgate latch is occasionally temperamental. It can also have a slightly more noticeable diesel knock on ordinary fuel; this isn't apparent on Shell V-Power and it runs and drives as it should.
There are age-related marks, including lacquer peel on the roof, scratches and a scrape on the driver's door. One key.
It's been a brilliant car and I'll genuinely miss it. I'd love it to go to someone who'll enjoy it as much as I have. Located on Hayling Island; viewings welcome.
Mileage may increase slightly as the car is still in occasional use
