Description
Ford Escort Mk2 RS2000 - Track/Road Car
1980 Mk2 RS2000, final year of production. This is definitely not a standard RS2000 it's been built as a fast, usable road and track car.
It has a 2.1 Pinto making around 175bhp, with twin Webers, high-lift cam, ported and polished head and lightened flywheel, along with a 5-speed gearbox and LSD.
The shell has been seam-welded and strengthened, with structural repairs carried out to the footwells, flitch panels and roof. It also has AVO adjustable suspension, brake bias valves, internal brake lines and a Safety Devices roll cage.
It's finished in Porsche Riviera Blue with recently refurbished 13-inch gold Superlite wheels. The interior is stripped out, with low-profile mirrors and mud flaps.
The rear axle has just been rebuilt with a new crown wheel, pinion and bearings, and the car has been regularly maintained and garage stored.
The bodywork is fair rather than perfect, with some chips, marks and a bit of rust around the lower door corners and nearside wheel arch. The shell is solid, but it's definitely not a show car.
It's showing 64,160 miles and is MOT and road-tax exempt. Comes with a good collection of invoices and paperwork.
Overall, it's a proper old-school fast Ford with plenty of character. It's been built to be driven rather than polished and parked up, and would suit someone looking for a fun road/track RS2000 rather than a concours car.
