The car was originally ordered new by my late mother, who personally chose the specification, including the beautiful BMW Individual Orinoco Metallic paintwork, cream leather interior and factory M styling package. It was built to her chosen specification She left it to my son, with the intention that he would eventually enjoy it himself, but that never quite happened. With him now moving and our own circumstances changing, we've reluctantly decided that the time has come for somebody else to enjoy it. And it really does deserve to be enjoyed. With just over 17,000 miles in 27 years, it simply hasn't lived the life of a typical Z3. As the photographs show, it remains in exceptional condition, with the Orinoco paintwork, cream interior and original BMW alloys making for a particularly lovely combination. Powered by BMW's 1.9-litre petrol engine, it's a wonderfully simple, compact roadster from an era before cars became quite so complicated. Long bonnet, low seating position, rear-wheel drive and the roof down exactly what a little BMW roadster should be. The Z3 has also reached that lovely point where it no longer simply feels like an older used car. Its shape is unmistakably late-'90s BMW, good examples are becoming increasingly interesting to enthusiasts, and examples with genuinely tiny mileage are becoming much harder to find. I'm not pretending this is an unemotional sale. We've kept the car for a reason and there is a family story behind it. Equally, it seems a shame for such a lovely Z3 to spend its life tucked away when somebody could actually be enjoying it.
