Description
A facelift R56 Cooper S with the later N18 engine, which is the one you want. BMW revised the timing chain and tensioner design for the N18 to move away from the well documented problems of the earlier N14, and on this car the chain has already been done, so the single biggest worry with any used Cooper S is already dealt with.
The engine work does not stop there. It has also had new valve stem seals and a new rocker cover, which on the N18 is the proper fix for the crankcase breather and PCV system rather than a temporary patch. Those are the exact items an informed R56 buyer asks about, all sorted.
184bhp from the twin scroll turbocharged 1.6, 0 to 62 in around seven seconds, and the go kart steering MINI built its name on. It still feels genuinely quick and it is still a proper laugh on a back road.
Finished in Eclipse Grey metallic, monotone, with body colour roof and mirrors. Fully dechromed and sitting on black alloys, which suits the colour far better than the standard brightwork and gives it a much more purposeful look than a standard car. Cloth interior in good order. Cruise control, rear parking sensors, and air conditioning that blows properly cold, which is worth noting on a car of this age when plenty of them do not.
94,000 miles, entirely reasonable for a fifteen year old car. Some service history available, and the car has been well maintained throughout, which the mechanical work above speaks to.
MOT runs to January 2027 with all work completed and no advisories. Drives exactly as it should. Pulls cleanly, no warning lights, no rattles, no smoke.
Note, private plate is NOT included in sale!
