FORD FOCUS RS MK2 | FROZEN WHITE | FACTORY MOUNTUNE | NO. 9344/11500 | COLLECTOR-GRADE When I was an apprentice at Ford, the Mk2 Focus RS was the poster car. Years later, after spending a weekend driving this Frozen White, factory-Mountune example, I was reminded exactly why I wanted one so badly in the first place. This is RS No. 9344/11500, showing 60,682 miles and coming to us from a genuine Ford collector. The condition is superb throughout and, more importantly, the provenance backs it up: full documented service history, an extensive supporting paper trail and the original Mountune brochure still with the car. The Mk2 RS is special because it came from an era Ford simply will not repeat. A 2.5-litre turbocharged five-cylinder engine, six-speed manual gearbox, proper mechanical character, huge arches, outrageous spoiler and one of the best soundtracks ever fitted to a hot hatch. This example also carries the period Mountune specification, which for me is exactly how you want one: more performance and urgency, but still retaining the identity and feel of the original RS. I drove it over the weekend and absolutely loved it. It is not about chasing modern performance figures. It is the way the boost builds, the five-cylinder note hardens, the front end digs in and the whole car feels alive underneath you. I kept finding reasons to take the longer route home, and every time I parked it I looked back. Then there is the condition. Frozen White presents beautifully, the engine bay is superb, and the blue/grey RS Recaros are exceptional, with the bolsters and centres still showing the sort of care you only get from genuine enthusiast ownership. The numbered plaque, original literature and history file make the whole car feel complete. There will always be cheaper RSs, lower-mileage RSs and cars making bigger power. If I were buying one for myself, I would want the one where condition, provenance, history and period-correct specification all line up. This is that car.
