I was looking for a great V8 attached to a manual gearbox in a car that I could happily drive anywhere and use year-round, and this S5 has absolutely delivered. After just over a year of smiling every time I drive it, I now need an estate car, so it's time for someone else to enjoy this brilliant coupe. I don't think there are many five grand cars that can deliver great kerb appeal, be super-comfy for a long journey, and turn on 350 bhp and a 7500 rpm howl when you ask for it. The way this car drives really belies its mileage - clearly someone has cared for it through its life, because the suspension is all tight, it rides and handles impressively well. It has a custom exhaust system with small resonators at the back, so it is louder than standard and sounds wonderful under load, but is not obnoxious around town and fine at a high-speed cruise. It's ULEZ and CAZ free. It has a six-speed manual gearbox, cruise control, parking sensors, super-effective automatic air con, heated electric sports seats with adjustable lumbar, a great upgraded B&O stereo with Bluetooth, sat nav, and keyless start. It does have keyless entry, but the sensors in the doors have failed - apparently common - so I unlock it with the remote and can then start it keyless. The rear seats are split folding and there's a big boot, it's surprisingly practical. Less good is that the front end shows the mileage a little, with stonechips to the bonnet and a little patch of paint flaking off at the front of each front wing, visible in the photos. The wheels have some very light corrosion and stubborn brake dust, but overall it presents pretty well. It complains of a fault with the electric parking brake, but it always engages and releases when asked and as "information" in the dash rather than a red warning doesn't impact the MOT. It's been totally reliable through my ownership. I've recently fitted new Brembo front discs and pads, and with an MOT to August 2027 and good tread on all four tyres the car's ready to go from Ashton Vale, BS3
