2018 BMW i3 - 18,857 miles - Exceptional Low Mileage - Excellent Full Service History A lovely, exceptionally low-mileage example of BMW's groundbreaking i3, in what I consider to be one of the very best colour combinations. With its contrasting trim and purposeful styling, it has something of the appearance of an M-series BMW. The i3 is a genuinely remarkable piece of BMW engineering. Its passenger cell - BMW's "Life Module" - is constructed from carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP), technology more usually associated with extremely expensive sports and supercars. Combined with its aluminium chassis, this was an extraordinarily advanced construction method for a mass-produced road car. The i3 has become an iconic early electric car. In my view, it occupies rather the same place in the development of the electric car as the original Mini did in the development of the conventional small car: innovative, instantly recognisable and unlike almost anything before or since. I believe good, original, low-mileage examples such as this have real potential to become collectible. This car has covered only approximately 18,857 miles. It was previously used by Surrey Police as an administrative/support vehicle, not an operational response car, which accounts for the exceptionally low mileage. While in police ownership it was serviced annually by a BMW main dealer in Guildford, despite the normal BMW servicing interval being longer. The service history is available both through the car's onboard computer and as a printed record. I have owned the car for approximately 12 months. Shortly after purchasing it, I discovered that the heat exchanger required replacement. I had this work carried out by Pritchard's, an independent BMW specialist, and the receipt is available. More recently, I put the car into BMW for a health check, including a check of the high-voltage battery, which was reported to be in good health. The car drives beautifully. It is quiet, quick, exceptionally easy to manoeuvre and remains one of the most distinctive cars BMW has produced. The tyres are all in good condition and the car presents extremely well for its age.
